George Sterling (1869 - 1926) A noted poet, George Sterling was a significant force in the development of an artist colony in Carmel, "the Seacoast of Bohemia." Later in life, he was closely associated with the fabled Bohemian Club in San Francisco and is sometimes called "the last classic Bohemian." His friendship with Jack London endured until London's death in 1916, a tragedy that darkened his own life considerably. His works include: Cool Grey City of Love, The Ashes in the Sea, and The Testimony of the Suns.
